The demographic information shown in REALM is based on data provided by Environics Analytics and Statistics Canada. The geographic areas used for demographic comparisons are not based on fixed distances from a property. Instead, they are based on standard geographic boundaries defined by Statistics Canada.
Neighbourhood
Neighbourhood (NBH) data is based on a Dissemination Area (DA).
A Dissemination Area is the smallest geographic area used by Statistics Canada for census reporting and typically includes a population of approximately 400 to 700 people.
Community
Community (COM) data is based on the Forward Sortation Area (FSA).
The FSA is represented by the first three characters of a Canadian postal code and identifies a postal delivery area.
City
City data is based on a Census Metropolitan Area (CMA) or Census Agglomeration (CA).
These areas are defined by Statistics Canada and consist of a central population centre and surrounding municipalities that have strong economic and commuting connections to that centre.
